TERM LIST

Announcement Breakthrough

Allows remote use to leave a message or play messages without listening to outgoing announcement.

Auto-Answer

On cordless telephone with this feature, pick up handset from base (on incoming calls) and you are ready to talk without the need to push the ※phone§ or ※talk§ button.

Auto-Disconnect

Answerer outgoing announcement terminates and resets automatically any extension telephone is picked up.

Auto-Transfer

Speakerphone feature where the call is automatically transferred from the speaker mode to the handset when the handset is picked up.

Automatic Digital Security codes

Generates random number security code to prevent access by unauthorized cordless  handsets.

Automatic Standby in Base

Cordless models with this feature act like regular phones when in talk mode; simply pick up and use from cradle or base.

Auto Scan

Automatic selection of a channel likely to be clear.

Call Review

Feature on call ID products that allows the user to scroll through the numbers of previous callers and review the numbers on the LCD.

Caller ID

When used in conjunction with the caller ID subscriber service. This enables the user to identify the number and/or the name of the calling party. Number and/or name appears on the LCD when phone is ringing. Memory to store the most recent caller numbers and/or names is usually available.

Caller ID 每 Visual Call Waiting

When used in conjunction with the Visual Call Waiting subscriber service, this allows the user to identify an incoming caller while remaining on the line with original caller.

Call Screening

Lets user listen to incoming call without picking up handset, then decide whether to answer or not.

Call Timer

LCD displays a digital timer that allows you to keep track of the time spent on the phone.

Channel

Number of channels a telephone can receive and transmit signals.

Compander

Noise reduction circuitry.

Conference Call Function

Allows user to access calls on two different lines. And connect all three together for conference.

Dial Back

As the user reviews the stored Caller ID numbers, he or she can use this feature to call the number and/or name that appears on the LCD.

Digital Answerer

Technology that uses semi-conductor chips for recording rather than using cassette tapes.

Digital Security

Factory-set system that prevents false ringing from other cordless telephones.

Electronic Hold

Allows user to hang up handset without terminating calls in order to switch phones or perform some other task, then resume call.

Flash Function

Performs similar to depressing hook switch, used for activating custom calling services from local phone company, such as Call Transfer and Call Waiting

Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS)

A technology employed by some cordless phones whereby the audio transmissions are spread across the frequency as opposed to being continuously transmitted on one channel. The signal ※hops§ frequencies in order to increase clarity, range and security.

Hands-Free Dialing

Used in conjunction with speakerphones.  Access speaker and One-touch dial desired number. When party answers, begin conversation. No need to pick up receiver.

Hearing-Aid Compatible

Telephone handset feature where the earpiece section forms an audio coupling with the person*s hearing-aid and allows people with hearing-aids to use the phone without additional adapters or equipment.

Interactive Handset Controls

Allows for answering machine messages to be listened to from the cordless handset. play, stop, erase functions can be accessed.

Intercom

Feature that enables a user to talk with a person at the base unit in integrated system models without occupying the incoming telephone line.

Light that shines across the keypad for night-time calling convenience.

Local Memo

Allows use of answering machine as family message center,  recording through microphone and playing back the same as incoming calls.

Memory Dialing

Allows quick one, or two-button dialing of frequently called numbers ( 9,12 or 32 numbers, depending on model ). May have one-touch dialing of up to three emergency numbers.

Message Forwarding

Answering machine feature that forwards messages to a programmed telephone number, e.g., a friend or relative, after the calling party has finished leaving a message.

Message Review

Allows a caller to review the message they are leaving on an answering machine for their approval. Similar to review feature on voice mail.

Mute

Allow users to exclude the party on the line from a conversation at the user*s location.

Page/Find Function

Allows paging of handset from base unit of cordless model; handset rings when function button is pressed. Also allows paging of another cordless handset in multiple-unit models.

Pause Function

Used for storing a momentary delay in the dialing sequence of a stored telephone number.

Redial

Dials the last number that was previously dialed.

Remote Functions

Lets user send commands to home answering machine using touch-tone phone signals (number of commands vary depending on model).

Remote Voice Menu

Guides you through remote functions. No Pocket card needed.

Ringer Tone Selection

Choose among four different ringer tones.

Security Code

Three-digit code prevents unauthorized callers from accessing message unit through touch-tone phone.

Speakerphone

Allows true hands-free conversation from anywhere in the room.

Toll Saver

If you phone keeps ringing after the second ring when you are checking you answering machine for messages. Hang up and save the money it costs you to call. ( The machine will answer after only two rings if there are messages to be heard, otherwise it will answer on the fourth ring.

Tone/Pulse Switch

Offers True Tone dialing for use on Touch-Tone lines or 每 True Pulse dialing or 每 Total integration of Tone and Pulse for access to long distance services without added cost of Tone.

Variable Length Outgoing Message

Allows user to set length of outgoing message to reduce waiting time of caller.

Time/Day Stamp

Shows and/or tells the time and day each message was received

Voice Enhancer Technology

Voice Enhancer Technology helps clarity and improve sound reception creating a natural sounding voice that is easy to hear and understand.

900 Megahertz Frequency

Cordless telephone technology operating on the 902-928 MHz frequency band.

2.4 Gigahertz Frequency

The 2.4 GHz belongs to the UHF frequency band ( Ultra High Frequency). There phones have frequency range from: Transmit 每 2.4747 GHz to 2.48055 GHz, Receive 每 2.4023 GHz to 2.40815 GHz

5.8 Gigahertz frequency

The latest in cordless phone technology which transmits on a new ,open frequency band that has very little chance of interference on both urban and rural environments. This is the highest available frequency you can purchase and results in maximum audio clarity.
